High School & Beyond: A Guide to Transition Services in Maine
High School & Beyond: A Guide to Transition Services in Maine is a handbook which offers practical information about the transition process and services available to youth with disabilities in Maine. The transition from high school into the world of adulthood is an important milestone for all young people. Young people, families, schools, service providers, and anyone else working with transition aged youth can use this guidebook throughout the transition process.
Practical Pathways, a resource guide for youth transitioning to adulthood, was written for you and other young people exiting the foster care system and the adult allies who support you.
The resource guide “Practical Pathways: Youth Transitioning into Adulthood” is the result of Shannon Watt’s creative idea and the collaborative work of a team of youth and adults. Practical Pathways was written for young people exiting the foster care system and the adult allies who support them. This guide outlines the information and resources that will support young people in buying a car, finding a doctor, and making smart financial decisions. Practical Pathways is set up to provide a snapshot of necessary information, along with suggestions of where to go for more resources. Practical Pathways is divided into four sections: Finances, Wheels, Health & Well-Being, and the Voluntary Extended Support (V-9) Agreement. Practical Pathways is meant to be used as a reference for both youth and adults.
